The Society of Jesuits is perfectly described as a Roman Catholic order of regular clergy, founded by Saint Ignatius of Loyola in 1534, that is immensely committed to education, theological scholarship, and missionary work.
The Jesuit Education seeks to reconcile with God while remaining dedicated to the service of faith and the advancement of justice.
The Jesuit vision encourages the students to seek the divine in all aspects of human experience. Jesuit education cultivates critical awareness of social and personal evil but points out that God’s love is more powerful.
In India, the society of Jesus has founded 118 Primary and Middle Schools ,149 high schools, 58 University Colleges, 22 Technical institutes and 16 Business Administration Institutes with 11,525 teachers , educating 3,34,538 students, belonging to every social class, community, linguistic group.
To contribute more to the honourable legacy of Jesuit education, St. Xavier's Raiganj was established.
It is incredible that an institution initiated by a Father with just seven pupils has developed into an institution with more than four thousand students and more than a century of staff members.

For more than 60 years, St. Xavier's Sahibganj, run by the Jesuit Society, has been a catalyst in the all-round progress of its pupils.
