JESUIT EDUCATION is inspired by and draws its philosophy from the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. It is also based on the principles of character formation elaborated by St. Ignatius of Loyola and one of his most devout sons, St. Francis Xavier. It is synonymous with quality secular education given in an atmosphere conducive to character formation with emphasis on spiritual and moral values and the development of an integrated, holistic personality. The vision and these principles give the Jesuit institutions a specific character and set before their staff and students high ideals of humanism and service towards which they are imbued to strive.
JESUIT EDUCATION is world affirming and assists in the total formation of each individual within the human community. It includes a religious dimension that permeates the entire education. It promotes dialogue between faith and culture. It insists on individual care and concern for each person. It emphasizes activity on the part of the students, encourages lifelong openness to growth. It is a preparation for active life commitment, seeks to form "men and women for others" and manifests a particular concern for the poor. It relies on a healthy community spirit among teaching staff and administrators and promotes community living.
The Jesuit School thus aims at making its own contribution towards a transformation of present day social conditions so that principles of social justice, equality of opportunities, genuine freedom, respect for religious and moral values enshrined in the constitution of India may prevail and the possibility of living a fully human existence is open to all.
